About the role

Description

Primary Function: As a Universal Mortgage Originator at Neighbors Credit Union, you will play a pivotal role in driving the production of 1st and 2nd mortgages. This sales-focused position demands creativity, tenacity, and a member-centric approach. You will be responsible for establishing and nurturing relationships with external contacts and community stakeholders to generate new mortgage opportunities. Your ability to connect our mortgage and credit union products with members’ needs and ensure excellent follow-through and member experience will be key to success.


Primary Responsibilities:

Mortgage Production

  • Generate new business for 1st and 2nd mortgages by proactively identifying and cultivating relationships with members and potential members
  • Meet or exceed established mortgage production goals through effective sales strategies and service excellence

Relationship Building

  • Establish and maintain strong external contacts, including real estate agents, builders, attorneys, financial advisors, and other centers of influence.
  • Actively engage in community involvement and networking opportunities to promote Neighbors Credit Union and our services.
  • Develop and maintain a referral network to generate business leads and enhance community presence.

Sales and Service

  • Utilize a consultative sales approach to understand and identify member’s needs and provide solutions offered by Neighbors to assist
  • Present and promote mortgage, consumer and deposit options that align with members’ financial goals and credit profiles.
  • Provide exceptional service throughout the mortgage application process

Compliance and Documentation

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of mortgage products, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all applications and documents comply with internal and external guidelines
  • Maintain accurate an dup-to-date records of all sales activities and member interactions

Collaboration and Teamwork

  • Work closely with the mortgage processing and underwriting teams to facilitate efficient loans processing, approval and closings.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the credit union to support overall member service and organizational goals.

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record in mortgage sales and origination
  • Strong knowledge of 1st and 2nd mortgage products, market trends, and regulatory requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to connect and engage with diverse community stakeholders
  • Highly motivated and results-driven with a creative approach to sales and problem-solving
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
  • Proficient in using mortgage origination software and Microsoft Office applications
  • Active involvement in community and professional networks is a plus
  • NMLS registration in good standing

Requirements

Experience:

  • One to Three years prior Real Estate loan experience in a credit union or other financial institution


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field or equivalent experience
  • Specialized training within Real Estate Loans

Knowledge:

  • Thorough knowledge/command of the English language (ie: punctuation and grammar)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products required
  • Working knowledge of mortgage software and Real Estate Compliance

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Friendliness, courtesy, tact and diplomacy are essential elements
  • Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills are required
  • Must present themselves in a professional manner at all times
  • Must keep all credit union business strictly confidential
  • This position may require flexible scheduling including evenings and weekends to accommodate members’ needs and networking opportunities
