Job Highlights
Youth Apprentices in the Medical Assistant pathway, work closely with a nursing care team to provide direct patient care and complete office tasks in one of SSM’s outpatient clinics. Availability to work days during a standard work week is crucial to fulfilling the 350 hour requirement. A licensed or certified professional will serve as your mentor and will help guide your training while providing ongoing support in the role.
Job Details
Effectively work as part of a team, communicate effectively with close attention to details
Maintain academic and attendance requirements for participation in the Youth Apprenticeship Program
Participate in progress reviews scheduled with mentors, school staff, parent(s) or guardian(s), and employer
Assist with treatment order from provider with direct supervision from a licensed professional
Interview patients and record information as instructed
Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations
Perform office tasks such as answering phones, maintaining records, and filing
Assist with the ordering and stocking of supplies and maintaining a clean and orderly work environment
Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience Requirements
Must be entering senior year of high school (minimum age: 16)
Must be enrolled in a Medical Assistant program at a Career Tech institution supporting the apprenticeship
Reliable transportation to get to and from work
Satisfactory progress towards graduation
Commit to completing 350 hours at the jobsite over the 2025-26 academic year
Demonstrated maturity and responsibility
Skill with attending to details, excellent attendance and a strong work ethic
Foster a culture of caring through interpersonal relationships and communication
