The Senior iOS Engineer is part of the Bundled Product Shopping team within our Technology division. This team is responsible for empowering travelers to discover relevant options at every step of their travel journey and become our travelers’ must-have partner. We are building intelligent and improved shopping experiences across web, iOS, and Android to enable millions of our travelers to build and experience the trips they will remember forever.
In this role, you will:
iOS Development: Own the development and quality of features being implemented on the Expedia iOS app.
Architecture: Play a critical role in ensuring modular and scalable design and architecture of iOS apps.
Projects: Lead projects that involve larger scope, scale, and complexity.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other team members to understand project requirements and provide technical expertise during the planning phase.
Code Standards: Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices, coding standards, and industry guidelines.
Mentorship: Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill development within the team.
Software Engineering: Collaborate with backend engineers to design and integrate APIs, ensuring smooth communication between the iOS app and server-side systems.
Testing: Write automated unit, system, and acceptance tests as appropriate to support our continuous integration pipelines.
Agile Methodology: Participate in regular stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives, contributing to the team's agile development process.
Bias to Action: Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and technical optimization within the mobile development workflow.
Experience & Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience: 6+ years of experience working in an iOS environment.
Primary Programming Language: Advanced proficiency in Swift programming, Xcode, and past experience developing large-scale iOS applications.
iOS Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of iOS technologies and developing large-scale iOS application APIs.
Frameworks: Knowledge of iOS frameworks such as SwiftUI, Cocoa, Combine, and RxSwift, with experience in SwiftUI being highly preferred.
API Services: knowledge of API service connection paradigms, understanding of client/server architectures, and past experience with GraphQL.
Architecture: Experienced in designing, creating, and maintaining robust and scalable features using industry-standard architectures like MVVM, VIPER, and common design patterns (Factory, Strategy, Adapter, etc.).
Technical Acumen: Confident in driving technical discussions and decisions across functional teams and organizations.
