Salary Range: $1,380.03 - $1,500.00 Biweekly

 

 

 

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Provides maintenance and repair for the Pearl Street Complex buildings and grounds that consists of the; Porter, Hanson, Hardy, Andrade, Sowder and Boorde buildings located in Jacksonville.  The Pearl Street buildings range in size from one to four stories, which house administrative functions and the highly technical public health laboratory. 

 

Repairs or replaces plumbing, electrical, mechanical, heating and air conditioning systems as needed.

 

Performs preventive maintenance on all building equipment as assigned or scheduled by supervisor, maintaining, and updating records.

 

Performs interior and exterior building repairs, painting, masonry, carpentry, as assigned, and performs furniture repairs as needed. Climb and work from ladders and carry a minimum of 50 pounds up stairs. Wear and work in a respirator when required.

 

Operates all tools related to performance of specific, assigned duties (power tools, e.g., drill press, band saw, circular saw, drills, bench grinder, etc.).

 

Assists in upkeep of exterior grounds and equipment as assigned.

 

Writes up parts and and/or supply lists needed to perform assigned duties.

 

Drives state vehicles in performance of duties.

 

Performs other related duties.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of the principles and techniques of the skilled building trades or mechanical repair work. 

Knowledge of safety procedures required in maintenance and repair work. 

Ability to perform a variety of skilled trades functions. 

Ability to read blueprints. 

Ability to take accurate measurements. 

Ability to follow instructions.

Ability to work independently with little or no direct supervision.

Ability to climb and work from ladders.

Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds upstairs.

Ability to wear and work in a respirator.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum - High School Diploma or Equivalent. 2 years of experience.

Preferred - 3 years of experience.
