The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.

Your Responsibilities

 

As a Part-Time Student-X9 Quality Engineering for John Deere Harvester located in East Moline, IL, you will:

 

  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects impacting safety, quality, efficiency, cost and ergonomic improvements for department.    
  • Establish routings, SOE (sequence of events), layouts, tooling, OMS (operator method sheets) and control plans for revisions to current operations.
  • Work with SAP, MPPlanner, and JDAAT to perform engineering functions.

 

This position is not available to students on immigration visas.

What Skills You Need

 

 

  • Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in an engineering discipline; others may apply.
  • Must be registered as a full-time student at a local accredited college/university.
  • Graduation date of December 2024 or later.
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above.
  • Available to work during the academic year 16-20 hours/weekly.
  • Available to work during the summer semester 35-40 hours/weekly.
  • Must be able to commute to the work location in East Moline, Illinois, on a daily basis year-round.
  • Good communication skills, and the demonstrated ability to work effectively with salaried and wage personnel in a team environment.      
  • A self-starter with the ability to execute a variety of tasks. 
  • Experience in one of more related engineering areas: Industrial, Reliability, Design, Manufacturing, or Quality.

What Makes You Stand Out

 

  • Experience with engineering tools, systems, and databases.     
  • Experience with line and process design, material presentation, cycles of imbalance, and visual management tools. 
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and working in a production environment.      
  • Experience with shop floor documentation (i.e. Sequence of Events, Labor Standards and Operator Methods Sheets).
  • Experience working with incentive pay systems.             
  • Experience with MES systems.        
  • Experience with torque tooling.        
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Creo View software.
