Campus Internship in Digital Innovation - Computational Fluid Dynamic Modeling Project

We are seeking Master and/or Ph.D. students interested to complement their primary expertise with Digital Internship in Correggio (Italy). You will be integrated in one of Dow’s key functions - Research and Development.

Project Description:

Dow operates 3 PMDI plants globally and owns a comprehensive phosgenation model, that has been instrumental in implementing multiple generations of mixers in the isocyanates plants. The model accounts for Reactions, Species Transport, Flashing and Density changes and has created significant value in Dow through the years. The project aim is to convert the comprehensive model to the open-source CFD code OpenFOAM and to validate simulation results in OpenFOAM vs. standard model. Comprehensive documentation will also be part of the project.

Required Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a MSc. or Ph.D. degree program in Chemical Engineering, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or other related disciplines.
• Prior experience with OpenFOAM.
• Experience in programming language C++.
• Proficient in English, Italian language is a nice to have.

• Great time-management skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Effective communicator organized and responsive.
• Able to quickly assimilate and understand technology, out-of-box thinker.

Additional Information:

• Legally entitled by EU citizenship or by a valid VISA to work in the project country.
• The project duration could be from 4 to 6 months (exact duration to be discussed).
• This internship could be part, but not necessary, of a graduating school assignment. Working hours will be the local and legal equivalent of a full-time employee.
