Varo’s Financial Crimes Risk Management Team is composed of forward-thinking, creative, and enthusiastic individuals who constantly strive to safeguard the financial sector from misuse and provide actionable intelligence to law enforcement. We are looking for a new colleague to join the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), a subteam within FCRM, as a Financial Crimes Senior Analyst for internal investigations. The FIU is a specialized team at Varo, responsible for complex/large-scale investigations, law enforcement requests, and internal fraud/fincrime investigations.

What you’ll be doing
- Build out and lead the internal investigations workflow including conducting interviews when appropriate, reviewing transaction monitoring alerts, and investigating complex and high-priority cases while providing updates to senior leaders
- Refine processes, implement new controls, and propose existing control enhancements, working with product/engineering/analytics teams on implementation
- Collaborate cross-functionally with various teams to resolve escalated issues
- Review extensive datasets from internal systems and tools, analyzing the data and extracting key insights
- Support other FIU workflows including complex case investigations, incident response, proactive projects, law enforcement coordination, and other information-sharing processes such as 314(a) and 314(b)
You’ll bring the following required skills and experiences
- 4+ years of experience in Internal Investigations, Intelligence Analysis/Counterintelligence, or Operational Risk with a focus on conduct risk OR a combination of 2+ years in the above and 2+ years in Financial Crimes Risk Management
- Experience with financial crime internal investigations including conducting interviews, drafting Suspicious Activity Reports, and coordinating with Law Enforcement when necessary
- Demonstrated success in change leadership, flexibility, and adaptability
- Excellent data analysis skills, with the ability to find, analyze, and extract key findings
- A strong sense of accountability and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills, and the ability to concisely present key findings to senior leaders
- At least one year of leadership experience is strongly preferred
