Senior Director, Global Workwear Merchandising

Position Summary:

A day in the life of a Senior Director of Global Workwear Merchandising at Dickies looks a little like this.

The Senior Director of Workwear Merchandising will work within the Global Product Team, covering all regions through the creation of a global product line. This role collaborates closely with design, product development, marketing, sales and regional merchandising teams. The primary responsibility is to lead the merchandising strategy for the workwear category (excluding Genuine Dickies), ensuring product assortments meet market demands and align with the brand's vision and business objectives. This position reports to the Chief Merchandising Officer.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive Workwear merchandising plans that align with strategic initiatives, seasonal trends, consumer needs, and financial objectives.  
  • Analyze sales data, consumer research, trend data, to optimize assortments and pricing strategies 
  • Develop a strong understanding of the workwear consumer and channels to identify opportunities, utilizing insights to drive informed decision making 
  • Lead cross functional collaboration with design, marketing, and regional merchandising and sales teams to ensure a strong product offering that meets their needs and drives growth in all regions 
  • Build and implement pro-active and directive merchandising strategies including end to end plans for key launches, with pro-active direction to stakeholders on who is the target, what is the concept, and where it should be placed 
  • Lead seasonal GTM process in partnership with design and development teams to ensure on-time completion  
  • Collaboration with Genuine Dickies merchandising team to build synergy and prevent duplication 
  • Continuously analyze the category and evaluate changes to improve efficiency 
  • Lead merch financial planning process, including revenue and margin target setting and execution to drive commercial success 
  • Leads coaching, mentoring, and recruiting efforts to foster a high-performance culture and exceptional merchandising capability. 
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, competitor activities, and technological advancements to drive product innovation.

Additionally, while Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required to have, we are most interested in your 10+ years of experience and professional achievements.

The foundation skills you will need in this position are:

  • Proven track record of driving commercial success through effective merchandising strategies
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of retail fundamentals 
  • Strong planning and analytical skills  
  • Creative problem solver - thinks strategically, acts tactically  
  • Experience working in global/regional GTM model 
  • Proactive working style able to work independently as well as seamlessly across the organization. 
  • Strong PC skills - MS Office programs – primarily analytical and presentation programs 
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure and time constraints 
  • Strong influence, verbal and written communication skills – promotes spirit of collaboration and teamwork 
  • Apparel experience, ideally knowledge of the work consumer/marketplace or passion/interest in that area 

There are also a few skills that are not required but preferred.

  • Vertical merchandising experience preferred 

Educational/ Position Requirements: 

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership in merchandising, vertical retailing is preferred with at least 5 years of managerial experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Merchandising or related area preferred or equivalent work experience 

Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements: 

  • Bend, lift, open and move product and related office items varying in weight from 1 to 30 lbs. 
  • Domestic and international travel required 20% 
  • Ability to be flexible with extended work hours as necessary 
  • Ability to work in an open environment with product team and cross-functional partners 

Hiring Range:

$190,080.00 USD - $237,600.00 USD annually
