About the NBA Foundation:

Created in August 2020, the NBA Foundation is the league’s first-ever charitable foundation dedicated to driving economic opportunity for Black youth ages 14-24 years old. The Foundation invests in local and national organizations that promote school-to-career and workforce development opportunities. To date, the Foundation has awarded $92M to 177 nonprofit organizations serving 200K Black youth in 28 NBA markets.  

 

About the National Basketball Social Justice Coalition (“Coalition”):

The Coalition is a 501(c)4 advocacy organization that leads the NBA family’s collaborative efforts to advance social justice. Formed jointly by the NBA and NBPA in 2020, the Coalition leverages the game of basketball’s influence to advance social justice policies at the national, state, and local levels. The Coalition’s priorities include criminal justice, voting rights, policing, and community safety. 
 

Position Summary:

We are actively seeking a Digital and Social Content Project Employee to help support the NBA Foundation, a public 501(c)(3) charity, dedicated to creating greater economic empowerment in the Black Community and the Social Justice Coalition. This position will provide digital product and social media oversight for the NBA Foundation and support for the Social Justice Coalition.

Major Responsibilities  

  • Providing daily content & product support for the NBA Foundation and Coalition  

  • Writing compelling stories, posting news, identifying/anticipating inclusive storylines; supporting Foundation Friday’s profiles, highlighting content from grantees, partners, teams, players, and coaches; curating and programming videos, editing photos/graphics, and executing digital marketing plans 

  • Developing and managing social media platforms (Facebook, X & Instagram) for the Foundation   

  • Managing build-out of internal and external digital hubs for social impact platforms including but not limited to NBA Foundation, Coalition, and NBA.com 

  • Supporting the creation, production, and execution of original content, including virtual roundtable conversations, video vignettes, graphics, and PSAs.  

  • Leading digital and social media planning and execution for tentpole league and social justice initiatives including but not limited to Election Day, NBA HBCU Fellowship, NBA All-Star, Black History Month, Juneteenth.  

  • Working closely with NBAE to identify content creation opportunities around player and team social justice efforts. 

  • Actively partner and participate in cross-departmental digital content planning meetings with marketing, broadcasting, communications, and digital media.  

  • Daily tracking and review of social justice and philanthropic content from NBA & WNBA players, teams, coaches, executives, and partners for League amplification. 

  • Develop lasting relationships and collaborate with nonprofit partners, NBA staff, NBA team staff, players, legends, coaches, donors (prospective and current), and executive leadership within nonprofit and community-based organizations 

 

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • A commitment to the mission and values of the NBA Foundation and the NBA Social Justice Coalition  

  • Knowledgeable in community programming focused on issues of race and social justice, communications, and digital content management.  

  • Ability to think creatively and be a problem solver, adaptable and results driven while providing excellent organizational skills  

  • Comfortable working under pressure and independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction  

  • High level stakeholder engagement and ability to collaborate and build relationships with all levels of leadership  

  • Experience with project management, managing daily activities and delivering results in a cross-functional environment.
