Assistant Head Coach, Track and Field

Description

Albion College invites applications for the The Assistant Head Coach Track and Field Coach position. This position supports the Director of Track and Field/Cross Country in all aspects of coaching and administrating Albion College’s track and field and cross country teams. The Assistant Head Coach will demonstrate an understanding of all areas of track and field and cross country. This position will also demonstrate the ability to develop and implement a successful plan for all disciplines within the program. This includes (but not limited to) film breakdown, conditioning, technique training, mental preparation, practice planning and competition preparation. In addition, the position also works closely with Admissions in recruiting students as well as participating in alumni, promotional and public relations needs for the program. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload with sensitivity and confidentiality. This position will actively promote diversity, belonging and equity through critical and compassionate communication and strategic outreach efforts to various students, faculty and staff (e.g., historically under-represented, first-generation, undocumented and DACA students, LGBTQ students).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required

• 1-2 years of successful coaching experience on the collegiate level     

•  Demonstrated successful recruiting ability      

• Strong administrative organizational skills    

• Written and oral communication skills    

• Knowledge of computer applications, including that for recruiting      

• Ability to work weekends & evenings and also to travel      

• Ability to work in a higher education setting with undergraduates in a student success related capacity      

• Demonstrated ability to motivate students of diverse background     

• Strong time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
