Job Description
The Director (Product Testing) directs the day-to-day efforts of select sales, project management, chemists per the Business Unit Manager in accordance with all applicable company and regulatory guidelines, and supports laboratory operations by maintaining systems. Also responsible for daily activity tracking and ensuring that all testing, reporting activities are delivered per client expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Primary role to Support Laboratory in day to day needs of the laboratory as deemed necessary.
- In charge of procurement and oversight of subcontract partner labs.
- Oversee marketing, lead flow, quoting for Product Testing Department.
- Draft Project-Specific Protocols, Design of Experiments (DOW) when warranted for complex projects, studies.
- Ensure testing, consulting “deliverables” are in accordance with all applicable company and regulatory guidelines.
- Monitor backlog and plan testing schedule to ensure quoted turnaround times are met. Reassign priorities, authorize overtime, outsource select testing as warranted to satisfy customer requirements and business objectives
- Maintain knowledge, understanding of all CUS043, US Food Testing capabilities.
- Maintain neat and accurate records.
- Enter testing data into LIMS and monitor for QC failures, customer complaint response
- Review and approve laboratory analytical data.
- Support the maintenance of controlled documents related to product testing laboratory operations/testing through editing of documents and/or reviewing revisions.
- Support quality system improvements through completion of Corrective and Preventive Action forms, documenting Non-Conformances and assisting with internal audit findings as assigned by Quality Manager.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality
- Coordinate and execute purchasing /receiving system in an organized manner to maintain lab inventory
- Conducts all activities in a safe and efficient manner, be a role model for ESFA leaders
- Perform other duties as assigned by Manager
Qualifications
- Bachelors (BS) Degree in Chemistry, Science, Engineering or related technical field + relevant work experience.
- At least 5 years experience in laboratory, testing, investigative services
- Knowledge ISO 17025 and related industry standards
Occasional overnight travel to sister labs like Tustin, CA, select tradeshows, industry symposia, client visits may be required.
Upon completion of successful onboarding, training, remote work 2 days/week may be explored.
