As part of the Sensors team based in Burnsville, Minnesota - The Design Engineering Intern will participate in the mechanical design, test and troubleshooting of various types of sensors for the aviation industry. Tasks will be part of a team effort that will be focused on the design of new products as well as support of current manufacturing. This is a great opportunity to learn fundamental principles of the aviation industry, gain experience in multidisciplinary technology development, regulations, and gain experience in presenting technical information.

What You Will Do:

  • Assists in developing of data and makes layouts, sketches, and notes for design proposals.
  • Participates in investigation of pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost.
  • Assists in designing, developing and testing metallic or non-metallic structures or materials and their related fabrication processes for use in engineering designs.

What You Will Learn:

  • Learn about designs of major components or major portions of functional systems, technically advanced prototypes, and promotional or specific products using computer design and engineering systems.
  • Gain knowledge in developing and improving products and facilitates in manufacturing operations.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Degree in Mechanical and/or Aerospace Engineering with strong academic record and interest in mechanical design, testing and troubleshooting.
