Overview

Schedule:  Monday-Friday between 0700 – 1800, not to exceed 40 hours a week. May require overage hours to provide effective patient care and avoid patient abandonment. Location: Nellis AFB, NV

Pay: Between $120k/year - $140k/year

Responsibilities

  • Strongly preferred working knowledge of the military health care system including TRICARE health benefits.
  • Shall provide outpatient health care to qualifying beneficiaries as scheduled by the Government.
  • Care shall include but not be limited to continuing, comprehensive health maintenance and medical care to entire family regardless of sex, age, or type of problem.
  • Will maintain a program of comprehensive health for the family unit, to include preventive medicine, behavioral sciences, and community health.
  • Responsible for a regularly appointed clinic, compatible with workload and, in addition, provide immediate evaluation and management of emergent problems as they occur. Shall have the capability to:o Collect and record, in proper format, medical and social historical data appropriate to the patient's condition.o Perform a general physical examination.
  • May become the primary care manager for a panel of patients. As a PCM, will be the primary person responsible for the management of the health and wellness of his/her assigned patients. Duties include:
  • Examination of patients, formulation differential diagnostic plans, defines and orders required diagnostic testing.
  • Interpretation of examination findings and test results, and implementation of treatment plans.
  • Determines need for consultation and assists in medical care and treatment provided at the direction of other specialists.
  • Approving/Disapproving subspecialty referrals.
  • Answering patient telephone consults with the assistance of clinic staff.
  • Providing primary and secondary preventive maintenance care.
  • All inpatients will be admitted as per the local MTF instructions
  • Ensures compliance with standards of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the medical treatment facility. Provides care within ethical and legal boundaries.
  • Ability to recognize adverse signs and symptoms and quickly react in emergency situations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization. Effectively uses appropriate communication format in addressing professional issues.
  • Excellent oral communication skills for patient/family education and telephone triage of patients. Telephone and in-person assessment/evaluation includes the determination of optimal time and location for patient management (ER, clinic, homecare) and follow-up care as required. Prescribes and communicates treatment plans and patient teaching in accordance with established protocols. Collects and assesses significant patient history information and performs all necessary patient teaching.
  • Excellent written communication skills to perform accurate documentation, both written and electronic, of all activity, including telephone contacts, in accordance with requirements.
  • Participates in the orientation and training of newly assigned personnel, as appropriate. May be required to work various shifts or augment clinical provider support during the absence of other team providers due to illness, leave or deployment,
  • Be capable of adequately diagnosing and treating a wide-range of pediatric and adult acute and chronic diseases and injuries including but not limited to conditions of the:o Skin Pulmonary Systemo Head Gastrointestinal Systemo Eyes Musculoskeletal Systemo Ears Genitourinary Systemo Nose Reproductive Systemo Throat Lymphatic Systemo Neck Central Nervous Systemo Cardiovascular System Endocrine Systemo Psychiatric and Behavioral Health
  • Have sufficient experience to be able to adequately perform medical procedures to include, but not limited to, the following:o Basic Life Supporto Advanced Life Supporto Pediatric Advanced Life Supporto Secure and maintain an adequate airway to include endotracheal intubation.o Cardioversion of life-threatening arrhythmiaso Simple minor surgical procedures: punch biopsies, excision of skin lesionso Simple abscess incision and drainageo Nail trephinationo Sling or swath injurieso Suture simple lacerationo Suture removalo Cryotherapyo Nebulizer treatmento Urine catheterizationo Cultures (throat, w
