POSITION OVERVIEW AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will monitor both Public and Private (Professional) Guardians, to ensure they remain in compliance with F.S. 744. 

PAY:

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, ranging from $41,561.57, annually.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for developing and implementing a monitoring tool for private professional guardians. The monitoring tool will involve reviewing and aggregating responses provided to the Office of Public and Professional Guardians (OPPG) by professional guardians. This will involve inputting information in various computer applications and assist with enhanced review of professional guardian’s cases.
  • Assist in development of improved procedures, job aids, desk manual, monitoring tool and monitoring forms. This may include assisting in the technical planning and developing a private monitoring tool.
  • Assist in reviewing, approving, auditing, and developing continued education courses for professional guardians.
  • Serve as the Contract Manager for the public guardian offices and conducts monitoring of such offices to ensure incapacitated persons of limited financial means are receiving the appropriate services by a qualified decision maker.
  • Maintain tracking system for all reports due from public guardians. Ensure public guardian reporting requirements are met and reports are handled appropriately. Send reminders to public guardians if required reports have not been received.
  • Schedule and conduct program monitoring visits to public guardian offices across the state and visitation of living facilities for Wards, or conduct remote/teleconference visits, if applicable.
  • Review budgets of public guardian programs and review expenditure requests.
  • Analyze ward demographics. Provide reporting on public guardian programs and Ward demographics as needed.
  • Oversee public guardianship management database.
  • Provide support for public guardian programs as needed.
  • Review and recommend methods of public guardianship funding.
  • Maintain contact with public guardian programs regarding waitlist, current Ward services, and pending referrals.
  • Create and utilize spreadsheets and database applications to produce a variety of materials including correspondence and reports. Maintain appointment calendars, schedule meetings, and make travel arrangements. Respond to telephone calls and emails. Set up and maintain office files.
  • Assist OPPG with research related to guardianship, evaluate current need for public and private guardianship and recommend methods to address the need for additional public guardian services.
  • Assist in development of improved procedures, job aids, desk manual, monitoring tool and monitoring forms.
  • Review and make recommendations on budget and long-range planning for OPPG.
  • Respond to telephone calls and emails to OPPG. Set up and maintain office files.
  • Assist with complaints regarding public & professional guardians.
  • Position requires travel statewide including overnight travel.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as may be required.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn Florida guardianship law and procedure. 
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills, required for public speaking and report writing; uses correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Detail oriented and able to enter data accurately into a computerized system. Able to navigate multiple computer screens, applications, and online research engines. Proficiency in Microsoft Wi
