Job Description

As the company’s ambitions for growth in renewable energy increases, the demand for procurement expertise continues to grow. We are maturing and developing a Procurement Powerhouse and thus we are now implementing a new central role in our team with a (Senior) Procurement Contract Counsel in the team Offshore Wind Procurement: Project Delivery & Support (FPWD).

As a (Senior) Procurement Contract Counsel you will have a significant impact in Vattenfall and towards our Procurement Contracts in Wind. Wind Procurement procures 70% of the volume in Vattenfall and you will play a key role in developing, updating and securing our Wind Procurement Contracts. You will be in lead of the internal stakeholder management and be the spokesperson from Procurement towards the organization contributing to Wind Procurement Contract Standards. You will also be the key interface to our Legal Department for updates and revision of Wind Procurement Contract Standards. You will have the responsibility to ensure our Wind Procurement Contract Standards are market conform and always updated with newest market insights and lessons learned, has the correct risk balance, and that our Wind Procurement Contracts are uniform to the extent possible. You will work in a fast paced environment where you never know what tomorrow will bring and where you deal with many stakeholders internally to drive value from Vattenfall’s’ supply chain for the business.

The Procurement Contract Counsel’s role is to draft and maintain Wind Procurement Contract Standards and act as center of expertise in Wind Procurement for Wind Procurement Contract Standards by hosting internal trainings, ensuring governance frameworks, act as sparring during tender negotiations and everything else relevant to ensuring state-of-the-art contract standards. The role is newly established and applicants may expect small changes to the role description as the role develops in order to optimize and create correct focus at all times.

Responsibilities

• Update, maintain and draft Wind Procurement Contracts across Offshore, Onshore and O&M according to best market standards.
• Set frames for internal education in Wind Procurement Contracts.
• Set frames for internal governance and mandate for Wind Procurement Contracts.
• Develop and maintain general Wind Procurement Contract overview for the projects to provide visibility and insight to risk profiles across Wind Projects.
• Serve as first point of contact between the Wind Procurement and the organization contributing to Wind Procurement Contract Standards.
• Proactively identify new and/or implements suitable Wind Procurement Contract Standard approaches to deliver lowest energy cost in combination with contractual risks.
• Act as sparring to all Procurement Managers in Wind Procurement during tender negotiations and advise on risk profiles, acceptable deviations and impact on clause changes.
• Proactively engage with stakeholders and ensure a close alignment and cooperation with the business and other Staff Functions.
• Ensure existing and new legal requirements are implemented in our Wind Procurement Contract Standards (in cooperation with our legal department).

Location 
One of the core locations, being London, Hamburg, Amsterdam or Kolding. Regular business trips are required. 

Qualifications

• Minimum of ten years’ experience in a contract drafting (preferably legal education or strong contract management experience).
• Minimum of ten years’ experience in project management.
• Good understanding of people and culture in working across multiple business functions and locations.
• Ability to engage and convince stakeholders from the BA Wind and within the procurement community. 
• Co-operative team player with solid interpersonal skills who can train and educate team members in Wind Procurement Contract Standards and implications.
• Preferably teaching experiences, e.g. at universities or other higher educations in contract drafting/international business law etc.
• Strong consultancy skills and able to support, advise, guide and challenge across all aspects of Wind Procure
