We are searching for a friendly, honest Maintenance Officer to join the St Kilda Care Home located in Cambridge. This role may suit someone who is looking to take a step back from full-time work and enjoy precious time with family and friends. 

This is a Permanent role working on an average of 11 hours per week: 

*Roster pattern: 9am - 3pm either on Mondays and Tuesdays or on Thursdays and Fridays.
*Total hours- 66 hours over a 6 weeks roster cycle.

This role will suit jack-of-all trades candidates who are well versed in maintaining accurate records, supervising, and coordinating on site contractors. We are seeking interest from candidates who can undertake indoor and outdoor general maintenance, painting, water blasting, repair equipment, and have a good understanding of the basics of building. 

Key Task and Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the facility. 
  • Follow the preventative and planned maintenance programmes.
  • Manage cost efficiency and monitor and compare energy cost and usage to look for improvements.
  • Keep current records of works completed and meet all compliance requirements.
  • Management of contractors when on site.
  • Negotiate with contractors and suppliers to obtain best price and value.
  • Participate in planning and implementation of minor refurbishment works alongside the managers.

About You

  • Ability to engage with stakeholders and make sure we can focus on delivering high-quality service. 
  • A minimum of 1-3 years’ maintenance experience in a similar position and ideally, you will hold a relevant vocational or technical qualification.
  • Ability to use power tools and maintenance equipment effectively and safely.
  • Tech savvy with sound organisational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks accurately.
  • Proven ability to build strong, lasting relationships with stakeholders, work well within a team and autonomously and be able to take and give direction. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to think outside of the box and problem solve.
  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in NZ.
