Job Description

The successful candidate for the Senior Program Specialist position requires an in-depth knowledge of the NFIP program to support on-going projects and rapid response requests. The Senior Program Specialist, by virtue of the position, may be required to provide surge support during critical national disasters or congressional inquiries. The successful candidate will need thrive in an often times fast-paced environment and provide a broad range of oversight managing teams in providing geospatial support at a national level, functions such as:

  • Respond to various requirements for geospatial products and services.
  • Support natural disasters incidents when they occur.
  • Support the initiative of the NEXGEN of the Regulatory Mapping for the future of RiskMAP.
  • Support Headquarters Task Orders as the open up to support the Program initiative. 
  • Provide leadership responsibilities and support to Program and Task Order Managers on all aspects of the NFIP Risk Map program.
  • As assigned manage projects, teams and technical components of the Compass PTS JV for RiskMap, HMTAP and TARC programs.
  • Support AECOM and the Compass PTS in pursuing and securing new business opportunities throughout the FEMA/DHS Program.
  • Participate in strategic planning and proposal writing teams for future endeavors.
  • Support FEMA and DHS in steering the future direction of the NFIP program based upon their needs.
  • Familiarity with the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), FEMA Flood Insurance Studies, especially historical reporting requirements for DFIRM studies, MT-2, and other related studies is preferred.
  • Provide primary communication with the client to facilitate all requests with all 10 Region Service Centers.
  • Among the PTS providers be able to facilitate, plan, organize and manage all requests from the client on tight deadlines
  • Prepare and maintain internal and external project documentation.
  • Opportunity to use quantitative and presentation skills, with software such as MS Excel and MS Power Point to organize data, analyze data, and present reports.
  • As requested, attend industry conferences and meeting for business development purposes.
  • Travel to FEMA and Compass PTS offices as needed to support the National and Regional Programs

 

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental or a related field
  • 8 years of experience in related field specific to the water industry (ie: floodplain mapping, water resource engineering, coastal, hydrographic, H&H modeling, AutoCAD)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the NFIP program to support on-going projects and rapid response requests
  • Proven quantitative and presentation skills, using software such as MS Excel and MS Power Point to organize and analyze data.
  • Due to the nature of projects, U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Minimum of 5 years of strong Project and/or Program Management experience.
  • This position may require travel
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License and as a condition of employment, must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review

 Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in civil, environmental, or related degree
  • Familiarity with the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), FEMA Flood Insurance Studies, especially historical reporting requirements for DFIRM studies, MT-2, and other related studies.
  • Ability to analyze and communicate quantitative data to the client to both technical and administrative staff
  • Be dynamic, personable and highly self-motivated
  • Have exceptional customer service orientation
  • Have a strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong familiar
