Under general supervision of the Dir Corporate Accounting, the Financial Analyst Sr Accounting ensures financial records are transformed into actionable business insights for executive stakeholders. Focuses on keeping GAAP-compliant accounting records, preparing accurate financial statement packages, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and analyzing data to explain monthly financial results. Applies advanced knowledge of healthcare finance, accounting systems, and enterprise data structures to streamline the month-end close, enhance internal controls, partner with external auditors, and automate recurring accounting workflows. Identifies and implements process improvements, and contributes to departmental and organizational performance initiatives. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.
- Drives the month-end close process by posting complex journal entries with a short deadline, ensuring compliance with GAAP, organizational policy, and audit requirements
- Keeps accurate schedules and records that streamline the balance sheet reconciliation process.
- Advises staff on accounting principles, reconciliation methods, and financial reporting practices.
- Conducts and reviews detailed reconciliations, validates accuracy, identifies variances, and ensures proper documentation for audit readiness.
- Partner with Finance leadership, operational leaders, and clinical stakeholders to translate complex data into actionable insights and recommendations.
- Utilize Excel-based applications to transform accounting records into actionable reports.
- Supports departmental performance initiatives, internal audit activities, and quality improvement efforts.
- Analyze budget‑to‑actual and performance variances, identify key drivers, and communicate implications to leadership.
- Implements, monitors, and maintains internal controls within assigned areas; identifies weaknesses and recommends improvements.
- Promote continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance accounting processes, automation, and reporting efficiency.
- Models professionalism, participates in orientation and education of new team members or students, and communicates effectively with leadership and coworkers.
