Job Summary

The Portfolio Delivery Manager role is a critical leadership role on the Business Enablement Technology (BET) management team. BET is the technology partner for MUFG’s businesses in the Americas and works with these businesses to deliver technology solutions to business problems. This role will serve as a close partner to the CIO of BET both in terms of technology strategy and project execution on critical business initiatives. The Director will ensure that BET collaborates with not only business partners, but also other functional partners (e.g., PMO, finance, HR, etc.) and internal technology partners to achieve growth while measuring BET’s performance against key financial and organizational metrics.

Major Responsibilities

In that mandate, this Director level position is expected to lead or support any related functions, including, but not limited to:

Technology Execution Management:

  • Ensure execution of critical initiatives, in collaboration with business, operations, technology, and PMO partners.
  • Achieve OKRs and KPIs aligned with BET, and inform key metrics and thresholds in fiscal year planning cycle.

Technology Business Strategy:

  • Partners with leadership in the Americas and Global IT to develop and maintain the business strategy for department within Information Technology for the Americas (ITA), driving effectiveness, efficiency, and business transformation.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources to ensure strategic goals align with employee performance expectations and rewards.
  • Focuses on internal customers (employees and business units), streamlining business processes and breaking down barriers to align with business priorities, uses automation, gains efficiencies, and enables an ambitious business.

Tech Financial Planning and Cost Controls:

  • Works with ITA Leadership, Business Management, and the Finance team to monitor and control financial spend: actuals vs. budget, reports variances, finds opportunities to optimize spend and increases financial efficiency.
  • Ensures regular review and transparency of financials, working across and down technology teams to achieve goals.
  • Understands contract and vendor landscape, proactively identifying opportunities to eliminate costs and works with Business Management to realize those saves.

Operating Model:

  • Collects and prioritizes resource and investment demand with key stakeholders across leadership, technology and business partners. 
  • Aligns stakeholders and technology teams against the new fixed capacity model and supports them in adapting to it.

Workforce Planning and Location Strategy:

  • Leads on- and offshoring workforce planning in partnership with Business Management.

Communication, Governance, Leadership, and Management:

  • Designs and leads an effective information architecture to ensure efficient preparation and review cycles.
  • Recommends and implements a clear process for the efficient flow of information within the broader ITA organization and towards leadership teams and executive committees.
  • Supports requests for business performance and management reporting through channels such as quarterly business reviews and executive presentations.
  • Liaises with and ensures ITA alignment with Home Office (Tokyo) strategies and goals.
  • Bridges the gap between IT and the business through systematic communication.
  • Ensures adherence to internal risk practices, strategies, and policies across all operating groups.
  • Ensures compliance with policies and procedures and the operationalization of standards, policies, and processes to identify, report, and mitigate operational risk exposures.
