Job Description

This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program.  The person in this position will represent International SOS and provide services outlined below: 

International SOS is looking for individuals who hold qualifications as Certified Medical Instrument Technicians to perform support services in the cardiac catheterization lab and operating room.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of systems to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of patients for procedures and the cardiovascular lab. 
  • Cardiac procedures include but are not limited to biopsies, aortic valve replacements, pericardiocentesis, valvuloplasty, peripheral and intracardiac ultrasound studies, intracoronary rotablator, temporary intravenous pacemakers, UDI tracking, intracoronary and ultrasound spectroscopy chemogram, and intracardiac ultrasound. 
  • Accountable for supplies and other equipment involved in performing these complex procedures. 
  • Perform electrocardiograms, stress tests, Holter monitoring, and other cardiac diagnostic procedures. 
  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of diagnostic equipment, troubleshooting any issues that arise. 
  • Prepare patients for procedures, including explaining the process, attaching electrodes, and ensuring patient comfort. 
  • Prepping the access site, placing monitors including oxygen saturation sensor, and blood pressure cuff, preparation of sterile field, draping patient following strict sterile techniques, transducer setups, calibration, and operation of complex technical equipment. 
  • Monitor and record test results, identifying any abnormalities and providing preliminary interpretations. 
  • Work closely with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. 
  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, including test results and procedural notes. 
  • Follow strict hygiene and infection control protocols to ensure patient safety. 
  • Transfer patient image data from the server to inside the procedure room operate new software and apply it to that specific digital equipment.  
  • Stay updated on advancements in cardiac technology and diagnostic methods through continuous learning and professional development. 
  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement activities to enhance service delivery and patient outcomes. 
  • Adhere to hospital RMB guidelines and establishes standard operating procedures (SOP). 
  • Participate in the review and updates of Cath lab procedures and equipment guidelines. 
  • Apply different protocol settings for the CTO procedure to decrease the X-ray exposure towards the patient and the staff. 
  • Apply knowledge of ultrasound imaging and lesion morphology. 
  • Operate and maintain pressure wire system and setting up for procedures by using proper transducers and supplies to obtain hemodynamic data. 
  • Operate digital console, and normalizing pressures and calibrate.  
  • Operate and troubleshoot Angio jet from Thromboectomy System, rotor blader equipment, and shockwave during cardiac procedures. 
  • To serve as the first assist to the attending cardiologist in the absence of a fellow physician during cardiac procedures.
