The O&P Americas Finance team is seeking a highly skilled and detailed oriented Financial Analyst/Manager to support working capital and Refining transition.  This role serves as a focal point for forecasting, analyzing and managing ~$2 billion of O&P AM working capital, while also playing a key role in tracking, planning and analyzing ongoing and closure cost for the Houston Refinery.  The successful candidate will be responsible for driving financial insight and supporting working capital decision making for O&P AM and ensuring proper accounting treatment and effective cost control for the Houston Refining site.   This position will be considered an expert in Olefins and Polymers Americas forecasting and reporting processes utilizing company systems as well as a deep knowledge of analytical tools and dashboard development to better understand financial drivers. This position reports directly to the Olefins Senior Manager II and routinely interacts with Refining and Olefins Business management and Polymers Business Finance along with other Senior management of the company. 
 

A Day In The Life:

O&P Americas Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain financial model to oversee the Olefins and Polymers Americas working capital forecast and planning process including identification of key drivers and actions to improve and optimize cash.
  • Develop segment working capital KPIs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (AP, AR, Credit, Accounting, Operations, Supply Chain) to ensure accurate understanding and reporting of working capital metrics.  
  • Identify and utilize analytical tools for report development including dashboards. 
  • Prepare working capital financial updates and presentations to senior leadership. 
  • Develop and implement best practices by partnering and engaging with other Segments.
  • Ad hoc financial support for Olefins NA business.

 

Refining Responsibilities

  • Successful closure of all plant-related finance activities as they relate to site closure, and ongoing activities ensuring proper settlement in the financial system.
  • Leading the ongoing cost tracking and analysis efforts related to Houston Refinery post closure, including the annual performance plan process, forecasting and actuals reporting.
  • Partner with project/business development leaders to ensure proper allocation of shutdown and new project cost. 
  • Partner with current Site Controller on implementation of a robust reporting system to ensure accounting of business closure costs are compliant to LYB accounting policies, including asset retirement obligations, discontinued operations and continuing operations Internal Controls and compliance to Sox.
  • Contract Reviews specific to site.
  • Fixed Cost forecasting and reporting and overall financial support to Business leader and multiple disciplines on a periodic basis including monthly cost reviews for site management.

  • Knowledge and understanding of working capital management and cost accounting principles. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to present financial information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities (multiple tasks) and support business unit and site management with sound business and financial counsel while constantly challenging to drive the team to optimize results and add value.
  • Exhibits a strong sense of urgency and accountability.
  • Experience in budgeting and forecasting preferred.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis tools are a plus.


Education:

  • Bachelors Degree required. BA in a financial/business field or relevant experience with ten or more years of financial or business analysis experience preferred, although high potential individuals may be considered with less relevant experience.
  • MBA, CPA, CFA or equivalent experience preferred.

Work Experience: 

  • Typically 8+ years of experience in a multi-entity, complex global environment.
