About the role

JOB DESCRIPTION

Assist journeyman carpenter with the planning, layout, and installation of concrete forms, rebar, and anchor bolts for flat foundations, spread footers, and drilled piers in accordance with the plans and specifications.  Assist with placing and finishing concrete in accordance with plans and specifications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Knowledge of methods, tools, equipment, and materials utilized in the construction of concrete foundations.

Be familiar with and willing to be trained on how to operate equipment such as a skid steer, mini excavator, back hoe, and forklift.

Proficient use of all required hand tools.

Hand dig ditches and holes.

Assist in the assembly, setting, and bracing of concrete forms.

Follow safety procedures and report violations.

Install all related items in accordance with the applicable plans and specifications. 

Knowledge and understanding of the company safety policies and procedures.

Knowledge of concrete industry standard practices.

Participate in daily pre-job briefings and provide input to mitigate or eliminate safety hazards.

Maintain an organized and clean job site including work areas, tool trailers, storage facilities, and office facilities.

Learn to read and comprehend concrete drawings and specifications.

Comply with company and client policies. 

Travel out of town to remote jobsites as required by management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1 year working in the concrete industry.

Capable to receive and follow verbal directions.

Capable of working well with others as a team.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Self-motivating with eagerness to grow.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

WORK CONDITIONS

Required to stand, kneel, bend, stoop, walk, push, pull, and complete repetitive motions.  Capable to routinely lift objects up to 25 pounds in weight and infrequently lift objects up to 50 pounds in weight. Full range of motion required as well as finger dexterity. 

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Typical construction work site environment that includes being exposed to extreme weather conditions of heat or cold (above 90 degrees and below 32 degrees), inclement weather, distracting and uncomfortable noise conditions, electrical hazards, and poor lighting conditions.
