The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.

Your Responsibilities

 

As a Product Engineering Part-Time Student for John Deere Dubuque Works located in Dubuque, Iowa, you will... 

 

• Collaborate with embedded software teams to assist in the development of embedded software features and functions per specified requirements
• Ensure software quality by assisting in development and execution of software test and/or test infrastructure
• Support the embedded software team, improving the development and test environment by enhancing tools, utilities, and scripts

 

This position is not available to students on immigration visas.

 

What Skills You Need

 

• Ideally you will be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering
• Must be registered as a full-time student at a local (Iowa/Illinois/Wisconsin) accredited university  
• Graduation date of May 2025 or later
• Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
• Available to work during the academic year 10-20 hours/weekly
• Available to work during the summer semester 30-40 hours/weekly
• Must be able to commute to the work location in Dubuque, Iowa, twice/week year-round (NOTE: Relocation assistance is not provided.)
• Basic knowledge of a programming language, preferably Procedural or Object-Oriented
• Ability to interpret requirements, datasheets, or diagrams to support the design and development of embedded software features or functions
• Strong mathematical and analytical problem-solving skills
• Effective communicator with teamwork or collaboration experience

 

What Makes You Stand Out

 

• Exposure to, or knowledge of Agile-based software development process
• Basic knowledge of embedded software or firmware development
• Basic knowledge of microcontrollers and/or embedded peripherals
• Knowledge or experience with MATLAB and Simulink modeling
• Knowledge/experience of continuous integration (CI) practices, utilizing source code repositories and/or build servers
• Experience with IDEs like Visual Studio or Eclipse
• Basic knowledge of real-time operating system (RTOS)
