The Position:

Assistant Coach, Women's Lacrosse

Job Summary:

This person, under the supervision of the Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach and Director of Athletics, assists in the planning and management of all phases of the intercollegiate women’s lacrosse program.

Characteristic Duties & Responsibilities:

Coaching

  • Assist in planning for and managing a competitive NCAA Division III program in accordance with College, NCAA and Centennial Conference policies.

  • Recruit academically and athletically qualified student-athletes.

  • Provide competent coaching, along with the necessary counsel and direction, which will ensure that student-athletes have the opportunity to realize their potential as athletes, students and members of the general college community.

  • Develop and deliver practices, training sessions, team meetings, and contests (home and away).

  • Assist in individual film and team film analysis including practice film, game film, and opponent scouting reports.

Student-Athlete & Community Relations

  • Promote strong parent, alumni, and community relations.

  • Lead and participate in Divisional and College-wide committees and initiatives.

  • Actively participate in fundraising activities in support of the College and Muhlenberg Athletics.

General Athletic/Team Operations

  • Work with supervisor to develop an annual professional development plan that will ensure awareness of trends, best practices, new information, etc. related to athletics, recreation, student development and leadership.

  • Assume a secondary assignment commensurate with abilities, interests and departmental needs.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.

While no one person may possess all the qualifications listed below, the ideal candidate will have many of the following professional experiences and characteristics:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of coaching experience required.

  • Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the Division III philosophy of athletics.

  • Ability to support, motivate, and educate student-athletes.

  • Strong planning and organizational skills are essential.

  • Capacity to market the sport to the various constituencies of the College.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and engage with a varied audience, including but not limited to students, parents, College employees, alumni, and community relations.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive academic and professional environment where all members of our campus community are respected, valued, can succeed, and thrive.

  • Ability to travel and adapt to varying schedules, including evening and weekend hours, in accordance with the needs of the team.

  • Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the Division III philosophy of athletics and adherence to NCAA regulations regarding operation of athletic programs.

  • Demonstrated computer proficiency, including Google Workspace, MS Office, etc.

  • Successful completion of satisfactory background checks including but not limited to education verification, criminal background, driving record, and child abuse clearance.
