Senior Business Systems Analyst, Publishing Operations, Penguin Random House (Open to Remote)

Penguin Random House (PRH), the world’s largest trade book publisher, is seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst to join the 9-member Publishing Operations Systems team, which supports the core processes used by PRH employees across all departments, including Managing Editorial, Production, Inventory, Marketing, Publicity, Design, Sales, IT, Customer Service, and Fulfillment.

 

Penguin Random House is home to genre-defining children’s literature, from Dragons Love Tacos to The Phantom Tollbooth; best-in-class storytellers including Margaret Atwood, Tommy Orange, Celeste Ng, and Jasmine Guillory; and culture-shaping works such as Becoming by Michelle Obama and Daisy Jones & the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

 

The role includes requirements gathering, data analysis, project management, user support, and documentation. This is a great opportunity for someone with SAP consulting experience who enjoys complex problem-solving.

 

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SAP MM and PP modules, SAP implementation and customization, and large data set manipulation.  This is a business analyst position and does not require coding.  We are looking for a candidate who can multitask, remain motivated and inquisitive, communicate clearly, and is an active member of a collaborative team.

The Role:

  • Analyze business requirements and design solutions to improve business processes, particularly in the areas of SAP MM/PP modules
  • Gather and manipulate large data sets to derive insights and drive business decisions
  • Effectively manage complex, multi-system projects, with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that business requirements are understood and solutions meet business needs
  • Adapt to changing needs of the business
  • Conduct functional and technical analysis, create system design documentation, and perform configuration changes in a highly customized SAP system
  • Develop and execute test plans to ensure that solutions are thoroughly tested and meet functional and technical requirements

 

The Essentials:

  • 7+ years of experience in business systems analysis or related fields (this is not a finance position)
  • 3+ years of SAP analyst experience required
    • SAP MM/PP is a plus
  • Advanced Excel required (ability to build pivot tables, vlookups, create compound and complex formulas, data validation)
  • Analytical, data-driven approach; logical thinker with ability to articulate meaningful conclusions found in the data
  • Experience in designing and implementing solutions to optimize business processes
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders across different departments and levels of the organization
  • Ability to effectively prioritize work across multiple projects, working with supervisor as needed
  • Ability to thrive either while working independently or in a team environment

The salary range for this position is $95K-100K.  All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
