Piping Shop Lead

We are currently looking for a Piping Prefab Shop Lead!

This position is critical in ensuring smooth production on the shop floor, maintaining the highest quality of work, and supporting our team members. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge in pipefitting and fabrication, excellent communication skills, and the ability to step in when needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Other duties may be assigned.

• Oversee daily production activities in the prefab shop to ensure seamless workflow.
• Manage and maintain the quality of all work being performed, adhering to company standards and specifications.
• Manage all Fabricators, including productivity, safety, time, quality, tools, and cleanliness of the work area.
• Maintain constant communication with the shop supervisor regarding job priorities, material availability, and production schedules.
• Seek clarification from Pre-Construction when information is missing.
• Deliver detailed drawings and instructions to production personnel to maximize productivity.
• Assist all employees with technical guidance and support as needed.
• Step in to fill the supervisor role during absences, ensuring continuity in leadership.
• Manage the crew to seek zero rework.
• Pre-plan the day’s activities prior to shift with supervisor.
• Understand the SOPs to be able to maintain the Manufacturing Tracker.
• Perform MIG welding with shield gas on piping systems and steel fabrication proficiently. (Must obtain a MIG 1G Rotated certification within 30 days of employment.)
• Read and understand all fabrication drawings from Pre-Construction and Field.
• Manage daily and weekly schedules, ensuring that shut down work is prioritized.
• Review all hand-drawn spool sheets/drawings for all information required to build.
• Monitor all materials pulled by the materials department to ensure they are correct and in the right quantities.
• Constantly find ways to refine our processes to increase quality and productivity.
• Perform regular QA/QC inspections on all fabricated items.
• Maintain current welding procedures and welder certifications.
• Notify tool maintenance for any needed repairs on equipment.
• Draw in isometrics and sketches for fabrication.
• Clean and organize the fabrication area daily, especially at the end of the shift.
• Understand that work schedules may change based on the workload and adjust schedules to accommodate these changes.
• Multi-task effectively to manage various responsibilities simultaneously.

Qualifications:

• Extensive knowledge and experience in pipefitting and fabrication.
• Proven ability to manage production workflows and maintain high-quality standards.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
• Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and job demands.
• Proficient in MIG welding with shield gas on Piping Systems and Steel Fabrication.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a leadership role within a piping prefab shop or similar environment.
• Familiarity with industry standards and safety regulations.
