Responsibilities:
- Work with teams across Amazon to rapidly identify threats on Amazon's network and build threat detections.
- Develop detection engineering strategies to improve the detection engineering lifecycle.
- Build innovative tooling used to detect threats to Amazon.
- Research and develop mitigations for new cybersecurity exploits, vulnerabilities, tactics, techniques and procedures.
- Develop platform requirements used to enrich alerts, and automate remediation and response actions.
- Provide tactical detection support during security incidents.
We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

- 3+ years of Security Engineering experience.
- Experience working with coding/scripting in one or more languages preference in SQL, Python, Java or Golang.
- Strong fundamentals of Operating Systems, Cloud Environments and Networking
- Previous experience in one or more of following domains: detection engineering, incident response, penetration testing, mobile security, cryptography, forensic security, malware analysis, threat intelligence, security research, machine learning, data science.
- Experience of common frameworks and models such as the MITRE ATT&CK, Cyber Kill Chain
- Strong written and verbal communicator to diverse audiences.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Master’s in cybersecurity, information security, computer science or related technical degree
- Experience with EDR technologies, automated incident response, sigma, federated and centralized logging, detection-as-code, infrastructure-as-code, and container technologies.
- Experience with tools such as Suricata, Open Search, Splunk, and Git.
- Pursuing certifications (e.g., Offensive Security, SANS, TCM) and/or attending events (e.g., Capture the Flag [CTF])

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
