Responsibilities
Health Research, Inc. is seeking a Program Research Specialist III to work within the New York State Department of Health Office Public Health in the Health, Wealth & Wellbeing Unit. The Program Research Specialist III (PRS III) will support the Health, Wealth & Wellbeing Unit within the New York State Department of Health’s Office of Public Health by performing data coordination, analysis, and reporting to evaluate the impact of community wealth-building initiatives on population health outcomes. The incumbent will be responsible for contributing to operationalizing and monitoring indicators related to the social determinants of health, community economic development, and health disparities.
The PRS III will be responsible for collecting, managing, and analyzing administrative, survey, and program-specific datasets; contributing to the development and execution of evaluation protocols; producing standardized reports and dashboards; and ensuring data quality across wealth-health integration efforts. This position will also support the development and maintenance of performance monitoring tools, contribute to publications and presentations, and collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure accurate communication and dissemination of findings.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of research experience in the collection and analysis of data; OR an Associate’s degree in a related field and five years of such experience; OR seven years of such experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of such experience.
Preferred Qualifications
A master’s degree in public health, statistics, or a related field and two years of experience in public health research. Proficiency in data analysis, database and statistical software, interpretation, and dissemination of data for varied audiences, and provision of surveillance and evaluation technical assistance. Experience working with Microsoft Excel and statistical analysis software packages (e.g. SAS, SPSS, R, SQL, Macro and ODS). Experience with writing and presenting information to varied audiences and in multiple formats including reports, presentations, infographics, or other formats. Demonstrated experience with survey design and implementation. Demonstrated ability to work with a varied group of partners. Familiarity with concepts of health care quality improvement/health systems improvement. Experience analyzing or interpreting data related to social determinants of health.
Conditions of Employment
Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Travel, 25% of the time, will be required.
The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire. Telecommuting will be available.
This position will require occasional work on weekends, after-hours, and holidays.
