About the role

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and install quality control process sampling systems, procedures, and statistical techniques.
  • Design or specify inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment.
  • Analyze production limitations and standards.
  • Recommend revision of specifications when indicated.
  • Formulate or assist in formulating quality control policies and procedures.
  • Develop the economics of any quality control program when required.
  • Devise sampling procedures and design and develop forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
  • Establish program to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities.
  • Perform quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.
  • Apply statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.
  • Review all purchased products or components and provide input to the decision to accept the product and future purchases from the vendor.
  • Prepare reports to communicate involvement and results of quality activities.
  • Prepare and present technical and program information to team members and management.
  • Direct technical and administrative workers engaged in quality activities.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of government and industry quality codes and standards.
  • Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
  • Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.

FACILITY/GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) for assigned product lines/projects.
  • Monitor projects from start of assembly to final test (FAT) to shipping.
  • Manage NCRs for product line/projects.
  • Create customer data books ensuring accuracy and compliance with quality standards.
  • Perform vendor assessments as required and in conjunction with the purchasing department.
  • Act as an active member of the internal audit team.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or a related engineering discipline, or a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a quality assurance role required.
  • Ability to obtain CQA and/or CQE certification within 2 years.
  • Minimum 3 years Quality Inspector experience required.
  • Mechanical or assembler experience preferred.
  • Oil industry product knowledge preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Comfortable working in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Willing and able to travel as needed (typically less than 10%).
  • Capable of performing extensive walking and standing throughout the workday.
  • Able to sit at a desk and perform computer-based tasks for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours when required by business needs.

INTERPERSONAL & COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to work directly with customers and suppliers to support quality initiatives.
  • Ability to lead and facilitate meetings, as well as confidently present information to diverse audiences.

TECHNICAL & ANALYTICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to read blueprints and accurately interpret technical requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to additional software programs as needed.
  • Ability to translate technical requirements into clear, comprehensive written work instructions.
