Leidos Dig Mod Health IT division is seeking a Network Architect SME specializing in Cisco switching and routing and traffic engineering for a large enterprise network services opportunity supporting the Health Agency in Montgomery County, MD.   

Job Summary: 

The Network Architect SME leads a network architecture engineering team responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, problem management, root cause analysis, continuous improvement, analysis, design, implementation and testing for the enterprise  network infrastructure. Operate and Maintain  Net Infrastructure Services, to include but not limited to firewall, load balancing, Networking, NTP, DHCP and DNS services, in   authorized cloud environments where applicable. Supported networks include the enterprise backbone network, data center networks, campus-wide wireless networks, and a large facilities network. This role will oversee a team responsible for the execution small, medium and large projects as well as support to resolve incident tickets. The Network Architecture SME is responsible for the generation of contract deliverable reporting, audit support and compliance and performance within SLA and KPI defined measures. This SME will also engage with the creation and refinement of SPAs and KPIs. The Network Architect is part of a team that will support existing large-scale enterprise network systems and architect, design and deploy new solutions to provide secure, highly available network services in accordance with existing customer service level agreements (SLAs). This position will provide Tier 3 support for incident response and coordinate with vendors and service providers. The Network Architect will also work on new network initiatives, implement change requests, support process improvement, consult and provide status to customers, and generate reports and other supporting documentation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site support to the health agency in MD. 

  • Lead network operations and project team, provide technical guidance and monitor team performance 

  • Ensure 24x7x365 support to restore service within established incident response SLAs for service interruptions or other critical problems 

  • Ensure customer visibility into network operations through dashboards and reporting 

  • Collaborate with architecture and security teams to support network initiatives and identify operational requirements 

  • Manage and set priorities for the monitoring and maintenance of network systems, including LANs, WANs, Internet, intranet, wireless. 

  • Ensure operation and optimization of the Agency standard monitoring tools 

  • Design and development of network architectures supporting special projects as well as providing SME support to the execution of existing projects and persisting problems. 

  •  Provide Cisco switching and routing expertise in support of configuration of over 1000 network devices

  • Evaluate the potential impacts of new network solutions and Trusted Internet Connection (TIC) networks

  • Measure, monitor and plan network performance, usage, availability, capacity planning, and health

  • Design and implement firewall solutions and network monitoring solutions for security compliance

  • Provide strategic and tactical direction for Network Services enhancements and projects

  • Actively engage with the customer and other stakeholders to define requirements and expected outcomes for new projects

  • Ensure baseline configuration of all network assets is documented and configured according to DoD engineering standards.

  • Research, evaluate, and stay current on emerging tools, techniques, and technologies including cloud services.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 12 – 15 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10 – 13 years of prior relevant experience in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering OR other related discipline AND at least one of the Cisco CCIE certifications, both written and practical.
