Job Summary:

The Advanced Practice Fellow works in collaboration with and is an integral member of a interdisciplinary health care team. The Advanced Practice Fellow should have a basic foundation in evidence-based practice and demonstrate adequate medical and nursing knowledge, clinical/technical competence, sound clinical judgment, professional communication skills, timely and compliant documentation. The Advanced Practice Fellow may function in a variety of inpatient and outpatient care settings throughout the fellowship to optimize learning experiences.

Focused learning experiences will be provided that enable the Advanced Practice Fellow to develop and refine essential specialty specific clinical and critical thinking skills promoting top of license practice. Immersion into an environment of collaborative interdisciplinary care will assure cost effective, quality, patient centered care. Additionally, an expanded incorporation of evidenced-based practice into care and utilization of improvement processes will be demonstrated by completion of a specialty-relevant project.

This is a training position with the goal of training APP fellows in the evaluation, diagnosis and management of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

• Ambulatory Role Monday-Friday (8a-5p), Starting January 2025

• Full time- 40 hours per week 

• Protected time for education/learning- 10 hours weekly 

• NP Fellow will participate in the Leadership and Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) and Leadership Excellence in Advanced Practice (LEAP!) programs 

• NP fellow will receive training on a variety of measures used in developmental-behavioral pediatrics (including ADOS-2, CARS-2, Vineland, BASC) 

• Opportunity for NP or PA, certification prior to start date required

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Obtains and documents a health history; performs and documents complete, system-focused, or symptom-specific physical examination, assessment and plan of care. 

• In collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, provides healthcare services for primary, acute and complex care of patients and manages patient's overall care, identifying expected outcomes for diagnoses. 

• Under the guidance of preceptors and supervising physicians, the NP Fellow orders, performs, interprets and collects data using appropriate assessment techniques, relevant supporting diagnostic information and diagnostic procedures where indicated. 

• Forms differential diagnoses and treats acute and chronic conditions in collaboration with an attending/supervising physician or preceptor. 

• In collaboration with an attending/supervising physician or preceptor, prescribes therapeutic interventions both pharmacologic, non-pharmacologic and surgical, needed to achieve expected outcomes. 

• Provides specialty specific consultation services upon request and within specialty scope of practice in collaboration with an attending/supervising physician or preceptor.  

• Utilizes evidence-based, approved practice protocols in planning and implementing care 

• In collaboration with an attending/supervising physician or preceptor. Facilitates the patient’s transition between and within health care settings, such as admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
