Smith + Nephew’s Advanced Wound Management (AWM) is on a journey to design and develop new innovative digital products that shape and redefine what is possible in Wound Care.
We are looking for a passionate Program Director who will also help us build Agile Product Development capabilities.
The Program Director is a servant leader to the cross-functional team.
The successful candidate will work with a globally distributed, cross-functional team to deliver new product solutions, leveraging wearable sensor technology and Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) cloud applications, to prevent Hospital-Acquired Pressure Injuries (HAPI).
The Program Leader facilitates teamwork and mobilizes people to deliver on agreed-upon targets. This leader is further expected to play an active role in Agile Transformation efforts and help build a high-performance product development operation.
- Lead internal and external teams to deliver results per customer requirements
- Guide teams in decomposing complex work and organize around cadence-based delivery
- Help build and maintain Agile Product Backlogs
- Prioritize backlogs in collaboration with R&D and Product Management
- Deploy metric based progress tracking, on an iteration- and quarterly basis
- Establish solid communication to global stakeholders with a maximum of transparency and clarity
Location: This role is based in Andover, MA with flexibility to work from home Mondays and Fridays.
What will you need to be successful?
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline required, Masters preferred
- Current Project Management Certification required: Agile and Waterfall (PMI, SAFe, CSPO, etc.)
- 8+ years product development and project management experience, including SaMD, and Cloud-based Software
- Authoritative knowledge in SAFe, SCRUM or related Agile frameworks and methodologies
- Outstanding communication, facilitation, and coaching skills
- Understanding of, or willingness to learn, the application of ISO 13485 and FDA QS Regulation 21 CFR Part 820
- Servant Leader – Must be able to garner respect from the teams and be willing to get their hands dirty to get the job done
- Must be able to lead and demonstrate value-add principles to the team
- Must be the catalyst for the teams and is expected to lead the transformation to a fail-fast-learn-fast culture
- Attitude of empowerment – Must be able to lead a team to self-organization
- Understand incremental delivery and the value of metrics
