Candidates for this position must reside on the Central Coast (Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties) or be willing to relocate to the area upon hire. Job Summary

 

This position will be responsible for the coordination and organization of interpretation in all languages other than English and written translation (into threshold languages-currently Spanish only) all member materials and collateral utilized by the Member Services Department inclusive of the Evidence of Coverage/Member Handbook for our Limited English Proficient (LEP) membership. This position maintains contracts with vendor-service contracts for phone and video remote interpretation with Certified Languages International for over 220 languages, as well as maintains a face-to-face interpreter network for Spanish and American Sign Language. This position must also demonstrate a thorough understanding of all CenCal’s Health’s program benefits, pertinent regulatory and contractual compliance. 

 

Expectations of this position is an extremely well organized, disciplined professional that provides the coordination and monitoring of multi-level projects critical to the Department, interrelated Plan systems aligned with the Plan’s strategic goals and mission statement; assist Department Director with special projects, compliance and administrative duties as assigned by the Department Director.

 

Bi-lingual written and language proficiency in Spanish preferred but not mandatory. The incumbent must be a positive member contributing to the successful and cohesive department team, the ability to work effectively under pressure, independent with minimal supervision, manage multiple priorities and assume special projects over and above assigned responsibilities with minimal supervision.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Cultural and Language Access:
     
    • The documentation and tracking of ALL Member Services Health Plan collateral for the purpose of timely annual reviews including focus group review for Cultural and Language Access Program pursuant to regulatory and DHCS contractual requirements.
       

    • Assist the Director with Cultural and Language Access Program continued development regarding expansion of services through advanced technology relating to access to services for Plan’s LEP membership.
       

  • Coordinate activities regarding Cultural and Language Program to include:
     

    • Provide updates on regulatory or contractual changes related to cultural and linguistic requirements.
       

    • Coordinate with Director the Cultural Competency/Sensitivity annual trainings for CenCal Health staff.
       

    • Assist the Director with Updating C&L Program policies and procedures for review and approval.
       

    • Annual Demographic Reports for all Plan Programs and their distribution as appropriate.
       

    • Coordination of interpreter services for members.
       

    • Administrative support regarding monthly audits of Interpreter Invoices for appropriate reimbursement and the preparation of the monthly and quarterly Interpreter Services Report.
       

    • Responsible for the on-going recruiting of Interpreters for Spanish and ASL Resource/Compliance/Administration.
       

    • The organization, coordination, tracking and reporting as needed with the print vendor for all member materials utilized by the Department relating to appropriate invoicing and payment.
