Under minimal supervision, the Physical Security Coordinator is to carry out, in the most thorough and professional manner possible, the university's physical security needs as outlined by the Physical Security Manager. This position serves as a subject matter expert as it relates to physical security, and is primarily responsible for providing technical and administrative support for the university’s physical security technology platforms. This includes but is not limited to: life safety technology systems, access control, and video management. This position also provides project management services for new security installations, system maintenance, and assists in Tier I support for the Public Safety Department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Security Systems Administrator
Complete physical access requests for university faculty, staff, students, vendors and others per university and departmental procedures.
Generate systems’ reports as needed
Perform regular inspections and tests of life safety technology that is deployed in the field
Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair security equipment and software as needed in order to ensure operational readiness
Provide training and technical support to end users and other stakeholders
Configure and program security devices and software
Maintain appropriate privileges for physical security infrastructure such as servers, computers, and end devices (i.e. IP cameras, encoders, credential readers, etc.).
Coordinate and communicate system outages to stakeholders
Assist in the administration of ULPD Officer Worn Body Cameras
Project Management
In coordination with the Physical Security Manager, develop functional requirements and design plans for physical protection systems for capital projects and renovations
Attend and participate in project meetings
Oversee third party security vendor work to ensure service agreements and deliverables are met
Coordinates site project work with other departments and business partners to ensure the timely installation of security equipment/assets that meet compliance standards and functional requirements.
Develop project work plans, job quotes, manage changes, and resolve problems to ensure the timely completion of projects.
Maintain electronic project files (i.e. design records, scope of works, contracts, etc.) in a centralized repository on the Physical Security shared network drive
Ensure budget compliance through the use of cost-effective designs, regular monitoring of project activity, and careful review of costs controls.
Achieves effective project coordination and inter-departmental relations through regular communication, project meetings, and reporting for large projects.
Budget Management
Responsible for sending receipts of monthly purchases to Financial Administration for processing.
Ensure invoices are accurate and paid timely.
Assist in the development of short- and long-term budget strategies
Special Projects
Lead in development of grant proposals and coordinating with UofL Research and Innovation for additional funding
In conjunction with the Physical Security Manager, conduct security and vulnerability assessments and make recommendations on enhancements using Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles
Other duties as assigned
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and six years’ experience with technology pertaining to access control systems, video surveillance, intrusion detection and alarm systems.
Experience in both maintenance/troubleshooting security systems, as well as security systems project management.
Experience in both Lenel OnGuard and Salient CompleteView.
Additional knowledge of Flock LPR and Axon preferred.
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
