Open Space Lawn and Turf Technician

About the role

This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned turf maintenance technician to join our team based on site at the UNSW campus in Kensington. The role oversees the overall care of the numerous lawns and open spaces around the university campus - they love to have the entire campus looking pristine all year round and the lawns and open spaces are an important part of supporting student life.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular maintenance tasks such as mowing, aerating, and topdressing to uphold the quality and useability of lawn, turf and open space surfaces.
• Monitor lawn and turf health and proactively address issues such as pests, diseases, and compaction through appropriate cultural and chemical practices.
• Implement sustainable management practices, including water conservation strategies, and pest management techniques.
• Operate and maintain specialised equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety.
• Collaborate with other teams to coordinate maintenance schedules, prioritise tasks, and deliver exceptional results.
• Communicate effectively with the client to understand their expectations, address concerns, and provide care and upkeep recommendations.

About You 

You have successfully completed a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management and have recent experience in turf management and/or greenkeeping. You are seeking a change and would relish the chance to be responsible for maintaining and enhancing green spaces across a prestigious site. 

You are proud of your knowledge levels when it comes to grass species, growth habits, and maintenance requirements. You are familiar with all equipment and machinery used in the lawn and turf world, including mowers, aerators, and sprayers.

You have a valid drivers licence, a white card and a Working with Children Check (or are willing to obtain).

With a keen eye for detail, a strong work ethic and a commitment to completing tasks to the highest standards, you are ready to partner with our client and deliver results that exceed their expectations.
