About the Job:

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

The Market Director of Clinical Services is responsible for the management and oversight of the day-to-day operations of the clinical departments of multiple sites within the identified market. Scope of responsibility of multisite operations may extent to acute psychiatric hospitals, substance use recovery centers, crisis treatment and community based outpatient treatment centers across a designated landscape. Plans, implements, and evaluates the clinical care systems and client health outcomes attributable to clinical practice. Provides direct supervision to clinical department leadership, clinical staff and indirect guidance to other staff regarding clinical programming and treatment expectations to ensure effective & safe therapeutic practices are being provided. Oversees all aspects of the therapy/social work programs including Psychosocial Assessments, conducting groups, facilitating family and individual therapies, and developing, implementing, and reviewing Treatment Plans. Oversees all clinical programs, monitoring the multidisciplinary treatment team process, monitoring discharge planning and community resource referral. May serve as Chief Health Care Disparities Officer.

Roles and Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Clinical Program Leadership and Service Delivery
    • Plans, develops, and ensures quality programming, including verifying that clinical unit schedules meet standards of care for active, quality patient treatment.
    • Reviews the progress, quality, and effectiveness of all clinical programs routinely and makes adjustments to enhance the patient care experience.
    • Provides training and instruction to departmental leaders and direct care staff to ensure understanding of treatment programs and service delivery expectations based on clients’ individual treatment plans and clinical needs.
    • Serves as the clinical services subject matter expert, providing clinical consultation, oversight of case planning, and care coordination.
    • Oversees all clinical programs, including discharge planning, community resource referrals, treatment planning, psychosocial assessments, group facilitation, and family and individual therapy services.
  • Regulatory Compliance, Quality, and Safety
    • Ensures that all clinical programming, staffing, and documentation are in accordance with regulatory agencies, accreditation standards, and standards of care.
    • Establishes methods for evaluating clinical care practices, formulates plans for new programs and changes to existing programs, and initiates or utilizes studies and research applicable to clinical service development.
    • Engages staff in quality and safety basics to ensure sustained, measurable compliance.
    • Performs Leadership Rounds as assigned, including observation and immediate identification of environment of care, safety, and infection control concerns, as well as real-time education on new facility processes.
    • Possesses high-level knowledge of local, state, federal, and regulatory requirements governing provision of clinical services within various treatment settings and ensures clinical operations align with all accreditation and regulatory standards.
  • Leadership, Staffing, and Workforce Management
    • Leads a team of highly engaged members through hiring, orientation, performance assessment and management, motivation, training, scheduling, and coaching to meet department goals and ensure effective and efficient department operation.
    • Implements plans for retention of clinical services employees, including coaching and succession planning.
    • Maintains productivity levels aligned with client census, curtailing unnecessary overtime and excessive staff work hours.
    • Manages staff scheduling and maintains an updated plan for contingency staffing.
    • Maintains accountability expectations for self and staff in all areas of job performance.
    • Holds staff accountable for non-compliance and client safety concerns, as well as attendance, policy adherence, behavior, and code of conduct expectations.
  • Documentation, Treatment Planning, and Patient Outcomes
    • Ensures documentation standards are met, with focus on timeliness and quality of documentation to accurately portray medical necessity.
    • Monitors and reviews discharge plans and after-care for clients by clinical staff to ensure arrangements are appropriate.
    • Reviews and audits charts for documentation quality and completeness.
    • Reviews caseloads regularly to ensure appropriate utilization of services.
    • Plans, implements, and evaluates clinical care systems and client health outcomes attributable to clinical practice.
