Global job purpose

In-house business consulting in the area of Management Accounting for Bayer's key divisions covering 2 streams:

• Cost accounting – ensure appropriate recording and allocations of actual business expenses by the group reporting standards and the company data model
• Production Accounting & Inventory Valuation – monitor production cost and ensure proper inventory valuation

Major tasks and responsibilities:

Cost accounting:

• Monitors data quality, identifying correction requirements and performing adjustments
• Supports assigned LEs closing process - review the closing results and follow up with divisions and functions
• Cooperates with business (Controlling, Sales & Marketing, Production)
• Coordinates and supports the annual budget process

 

Production Accounting & Inventory Valuation:

• Monitors and analyzes product unit cost at a material level and explain deviations
• Supports the annual process of developing product standard cost
• Supports business (Controlling, Production etc.) for clarification of changes needed for variances of production/process orders and purchase prices
• Supports analysis of the Income Statement in the area of responsibility

Qualifications:

• University degree in Business Administration, Finance and Accounting, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of professional experience in Controlling, Product Costing, Financial Analysis, General Ledger, Asset Management etc.; experience from a production company would be an advantage.
• Basic understanding of cost accounting/managerial accounting rules and their connection with other business processes.
• Basic understanding of accounting period-end closing
• Analytical skills – ability to prepare basic financial information.
• Action-oriented way of working with an eye for detail.
• First experience in partnering with Business stakeholders (presentation of data, discussion of complex business cases, supporting decision-making).
• Ability to effectively collaborate in matrix organization
• Support decision-making within the scope of responsibility (legal entity, country, or country group).
• Experience with SAP (FI, CO).
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
• Digital skills: Excel intermediate, entry knowledge of Power BI or relevant tools for analytics and visualization (view, filter and drill down reports and visuals).
• Knowledge of German or other European languages would be an asset.
