This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

The Director of Material Planning will lead the master scheduling organization, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic goals and operational objectives. This role requires a blend of strategic vision, operational excellence, and leadership skills to drive the organization towards achieving its targets.

Master Production Scheduling (MPS) is a critical component of the manufacturing and supply chain process. It involves the creation and maintenance of a master schedule that outlines the production quantities and delivery dates for finished products. The MPS process takes into account demand forecasts, current inventory levels, and production capacity to ensure that the right products are produced at the right time. This role is pivotal in balancing customer demand with production capabilities, minimizing lead times, and optimizing inventory levels. The Director of Master Scheduling will be responsible for overseeing this process, ensuring that the master schedule is accurate, feasible, and aligned with the company's strategic objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement master scheduling strategies that align with the company's overall business objectives.
  • Lead a team of schedulers, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize scheduling processes and improve efficiency.
  • Analyze scheduling data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure accurate and timely scheduling of production, taking into account demand forecasts, inventory levels, and resource availability.
  • Implement and maintain scheduling best practices and standards.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the master scheduling organization.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on scheduling performance to senior management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in scheduling or operations management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing or supply chain processes.
  • Proficiency in scheduling software and tools (e.g., ERP systems).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a related field.
  • Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or equivalent certification.
  • Experience in a high-tech or aerospace industry.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience with advanced planning and scheduling (APS) systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change and lead transformation initiatives.
