Digital Governor, Senior Team Lead

<p><span>The Generation Engineering department in Engineering and Major Projects is the Centre of Engineering for ESB’s generation businesses and provides consultancy services in generation technology for external and international clients. This includes optimising the long-term performance of the Generation Assets through process performance optimisation and portfolio long term asset management, as well as continuously driving improvements in overhaul management, safety, technical and engineering standards, and the delivery of new power plant projects as part of the ESB Strategy on “Net Zero by 2040”. </span></p> <p><span>The Team Lead C&amp;I is a Senior role in the C&amp;I Team and will report to the C&amp;I Manager, support to plan, co-ordinate and deliver digital governor or C&amp;I works as required by business needs in principal client work streams with standardised engineering and work practices, while also playing a leading role in the professional development of the team. </span></p> <p> </p> <p><span><strong><span>Key Responsibilities </span></strong></span></p> <p><span>Working across different types of generation assets and technologies your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:  </span></p> <p><span> </span></p> <ul> <li> <p><span>Developing and maintaining a core focus on digital turbine governors across the ESB generation portfolio as required per business needs (GT, ST, Hydro) and associated PID closed loop controls for position control, operational modes (speed, load, temperature, etc) and interfaces with hydraulic systems, electrical systems, DCS, PLCs, HMIs, etc. </span></p> </li> </ul> <ul> <li> <p><span>Developing and maintaining technical and commercial knowledge on required grid code testing requirements and the turbine governor contribution to grid code compliance, acting as technical lead for development or review of test requirements, procedures, commissioning, etc.  </span></p> </li> </ul> <ul> <li> <p><span>Develop and manage a central repository for digital turbine governors in ESB generation (block diagrams, function descriptions, parameters, test procedures, reports, OEM docu, etc). </span></p> </li> </ul> <ul> <li> <p><span>Leading the scoping and definition of C&amp;I technical requirements for the specification of C&amp;I systems (including digital governors) and associated internal or third-party interfaces employed in greenfield or brownfield generation assets. </span></p> </li> </ul> <ul> <li> <p><span>Flexibility to act as an additional Team Lead C&amp;I during periods of low activity in turbine governors, or as Lead C&amp;I Engineer/Specialist roles on select major capital greenfield or brownfield projects, including OT Cybersecurity Lifecycle and Risk Management. </span></p> </li> </ul> <ul> <li> <p><span>Promoting and leading the safety management culture across all activities by taking ownership and demonstrating visible commitment to safety in all works/project stages and ensure compliance with organisational quality procedures. </span></p> </li> </ul> <ul> <li> <p><span>Line management, mentorship and development of direct reports and junior engineers inclusive of CPD, competencies, objectives, continuous performance, continuous improvement, graduate training, and graduate development plans in alignment with project, organisational and professional objectives.  </span></p> </li> </ul> <p><span> </span></p> <p><span><strong><span>Knowledge, Skills and Experience  </span></strong></span></p> <p><span>Working as part of this dynamic team, you will always have new challenges and new problems to solve – working together is key.  You will have the autonomy to choose how best to tackle tasks and solve problems with the support of your colleagues.  </span></p> <p><span><strong><span>Essential </span></strong></span></p> <ul> <li> <p><span>Have a minimum of 7 years’ relevant working experience and shall already hold a Senior C&amp;I role in the generation sector or a comparable industry. </span></p> </li> </ul> <ul> <li> <p><span>Possess significant competence of generating plant C&amp;I systems and applications including DCS and PLC systems, OT environment, HMI and control networks, field instrumentation and control devices, plant protection, safety systems and devices. </span></p> </li> </ul> <ul> <li> <p><span>Demonstrated ability of having led, managed, and delivered large and/or complex C&amp;I works/projects and teams, including significant experience of power plant operations and maintenance technologies, systems, procedures, and practices. </span></p> </li> </ul> <ul> <li> <p><span>Demonstrated internal and external stakeholder management and project/scope co-ordination involving multiple ESB business units, contractors or third parties, including strong time management, work prioritisation, communication and report writing skills. </span></p> </li> </ul> <ul> <li> <p><span>Knowledge of IT in
