Job Description
Scope: The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing financial activities of the company and ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory reporting requirements.
Responsibilities & Tasks:
Lead the Finance Team to ensure timely and accurate financial statements:
- Provide leadership to the Finance Team by establishing goals and objectives that support company goals and objectives
- Ability to indirectly manage up to 40 team members across the United States
- Preparation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for the accurate accounting of business results in accordance with GAAP and government regulatory agencies
- Conduct regular account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data
- Oversee accounts payable function and ensure timely payment of invoices
- Ensure that the processing of financial information and resultant reporting adheres to both regulatory requirements as well as current company practice and/or procedure.
- Provide audit interpretation and support services to independent financial auditors
- Keep abreast of the required regulatory reporting and technical accounting issues and requirements
- Maintain tracking of intercompany billings and accruals for internal charges according to corporate accounting standards
- Continuous assessment of current accounting processes, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes as deemed necessary
- Hiring, training and retaining competent accounting staff
- Provide necessary motivation and professional growth opportunities for department employees.
- Adheres to internal ethics/procedures and external regulations and laws.
- Provide business units with necessary reports/inputs/data/ for monthly, quarterly and annual management reporting.
- Active participant in the annual AOP planning and analysis process.
- Other related duties as assigned by management.
Authorities:
- Work under the general supervision of the Senior Director of Finance
- Assign and allocate resources within the department required to support the business
- Set functional performance standards and establish metrics
- Approve manual changes of reported information involving significant financial impact
- Approve instances of necessary deviations from standard departmental policies or procedures
- Serve as the subject matter expert for program financial, budget, and cost performance for programs
Outside Business Relationships:
- External auditors, internal auditors, and compliance auditor
- ESL Financial managers and staff
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Education (Highest Level Required/Preferred):
- Master's Degree Preferred
- Bachelor's Degree Required
Specific Degree Field, only if required: Bachelor in Accounting.
Certifications/Licenses:
Required: CPA
Experience Required:
Functional (Using Skill Set) - 5-10 years
Management - 3-5 years
Industry - 3-5 years
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required (Unique and Measurable):
- Working knowledge of GAAP accounting and FAR Regulations
- 3+ years of Public Accounting experience
- In-depth knowledge of Accounting Regulations applicable to functional area, including keeping current regarding all SOX requirements
- Ability to design financial processes and metrics within appropriate functional
