What will you do?

 

As the Product Technologist you will be responsible for providing a Quality Support function to the General Merchandise divisions and the management of the overall quality and safety of non-proprietary, Housebrand products sold within Target. Provide high level of technical advice & expertise to optimise an innovative and significant Housebrand strategy. Included is the involvement in relevant Target standards, and the development, implementation, and administration of supplier standards.Undertake product investigations, Store audits and development assessments, providing technical assessments and conclusions to proactively improve products and ranges.
You will work collaboratively with key stakeholders to develop strategies and processes to drive sales and profitability in line with Target’s values.  This is a pivotal role where you can make an impact he wider merchandise team through superior implementation of product improvement process .

Other responsibilities will include:
 

•    Providing high level technical advice & expertise to optimise an innovative, growing business
•    Partnering with the merchandise teams to develop primarily fashion accessories (e.g. jewellery), toy and craft products
•    Identifying and supporting innovation in terms of new products, ideas and improvements
•    Development, implementation, and administration of supplier standards
•    Undertaking product investigations, technical assessments and providing solutions with aim to resolve quality issues and proactively improving products and ranges
•    Ensuring confidence in risk-based responses to product safety and product compliance issues in a dynamic and fast-moving environment
•    Liaison with Asia Quality team and/or 3rd party testing lab, if necessary to update the testing requirement/protocol, etc.
•    Support Quality team integration project, quality system update, etc

What are we looking for?

 

We're looking for a commercially savvy individual who will bring a curious mind-set as well as a passion for all things Retail! You love focusing on product, customers are always front of mind and building and managing relationships with a variety of key stakeholders is one of your strengths. 

To be successful in this role you will have experience as follows:
 
•    Qualifications in Science, Engineering or a related discipline
•    Knowledge of manufacturing systems and standards
•    Understanding of relevant legislation, Australian Consumer Law (ACL) and ACCC code of practice 
•    Experience in managing Safety Data Sheets  
•    Understanding of commercial retail environments
•    Excellent attention to detail
•    High level problem solving skills
•    Exceptional collaboration and communication skills
