POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the direction, policies, and guidelines of the Campus Store Manager, the Campus Store Associate is responsible for stocking and selling supplies, spirit wear, food items, and textbooks. The person in this position works to ensure that he or she provides excellent customer service to the Stores guests and customers.
Supervisor: Campus Store Manager
Supervisory Responsibility: None
Position Status: This position is an hourly, non-exempt, full-time position.
Hours of Work: Typical days of work are Monday through Friday 9:00am to 4:30pm (full-time) or 12:00pm - 4:30pm (part-time) schedule determined by the Campus Store Manager. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains, and sells textbooks, spirit wear, food/drinks, school supplies, ensuring appropriate inventory levels of various items
- Rotates stock and maintains appropriate inventory levels of various items
- Participates in annual Book Sale and Book Buy-back
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Prefer at least 2 years' experience in retail
- Superb customer service skills; commitment to a culture of respect and personal development; ability to lead a team to develop a culture committed to continuous improvement
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interact effectively and represent the school with professionalism and enthusiasm to a very broad constituency
- Outstanding organizational and prioritization skills
- Great attention to detail and initiative in problem solving
- Self-motivated with professional demeanor and presence, positive attitude, and strong work ethic
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; talk and hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
TRAVEL
Minimal travel, if any, may be required but primarily local and during the regular business day.
