Basic Purpose and Objective of the Position:The primary function of this position is technical accounting and financial reporting. This includes both GAAP basis and Statutory basis (insurance) accounting and financial reporting for the Asset Protection Division (APD)

Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly GAAP accounting and reporting for the assigned programs and legal entities, including journal entries, balance sheet and income statement ownership, review, and trend and variance analysis. Also includes analyzing and preparing monthly account reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual Statutory reporting (insurance accounting) for the applicable assigned programs and legal entities, including journal entries, balance sheet and income statement ownership, review, and trend and variance analysis.
- Provide required or requested financial data to various internal departments and external partners, regulatory agencies, or other entities.
- Prepare and assist with financial data required and requested by internal and external auditors, along with adhering to established internal controls in daily work.
- Prepare other requested information as it arises related to the assigned programs and legal entities to support management decisions and the daily operations of the business, and other special projects related to the growth, alignment, and integration of our lines of business
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
- Strong knowledge of insurance accounting principles
- Strong analytical, problem solving, written and oral communication, organization, and time management skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and utilize effective verbal and written communication skills
Qualificatons/Education
- B.A or B.S. in Accounting
- 3-5 years general accounting experience or an equivalent combination of training and related experience
- 3-4 years of insurance accounting experience strongly preferred
- Intermediate to advanced spreadsheet and database experience, Microsoft Office suite
- Experience in SAP General Ledger preferred
