Maintenance Technician

Overview

The Bartlett Tree Research Laboratory (Charlotte, NC) is hiring a Maintenance Technician for its Facilities & Maintenance team. This position entails working with a variety of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems situated within multiple buildings and across the 350-plus-acre property.

Responsibilities

PRIMARY DUTIES

• Installation and repair of new and existing irrigation systems.
• Repair/replacement of light bulbs, light fixtures, receptacles, and switches on various electrical systems.
• Maintenance of sinks, faucets, and water closets on various plumbing systems.
• Maintenance of fencing and automatic gate controls.
• Maintenance of multiple heating and air conditioning systems.
• Maintenance of multiple water wells.
• Small engine operation and repair. 

  MISCELLANEOUS DUTIES

• Handle ad-hoc assignments as and when required.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Ability to spend long hours working independently in a wide range of weather and temperature extremes, including some office work.
• Capable of working independently and often alone.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders and stairs, and work in strenuous conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Must be able to effectively interact with guests and co-workers, along with peer professionals.
• Ability to learn and capable of asking questions without hesitation.
