About the role

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the Heavy Equipment Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of inbound and outbound materials in various forms through Reworld’ s industrial disposal process using a front end loader, backhoe, excavator, etc.

Position Responsibilities:

• Safely operate industrial equipment to consolidate dumped refuse on the tipping floor through the safe operation of various types of industrial equipment, such as: track hoe, skid steer, backhoe, excavator, etc.
• Follow defined industrial and manufacturing good housekeeping practices at all Covanta facilities and within assigned work areas
• Assist facility mechanic(s) with equipment repairs as needed
• Additional duties as assigned to ensure safe and efficient facility operations

Position Requirements & Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred Covanta offers GED Works – a fully funded program for employees to achieve their GED. 
• A minimum of 1 year experience operating industrial equipment such as backhoe, trackhoe, excavator
• Valid drivers license with reliable transportation strongly preferred
• Must have the ability to work a rotating shift schedule

Physical Demands of the Role:

• Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb
• Ability to lift/carry 50lbs
• Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces
• Qualify to wear a full-face respirator 
• Consistently work in various weather conditions
