Job Description
The Maintenance Lead position is the highest hourly position within the Stratas Maintenance operations. They teach and mentor mechanics of all skill levels within the department. The Lead position takes on and delegates complex and critical tasks while taking on maintenance projects. They are responsible for the performance of the maintenance team and use their talents to guide and mentor the mechanics of the maintenance department.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Adhere and enforce all personnel safety, food safety, and environmental rules, regulations, policies, and programs that are applicable to the position.
Adhere to and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Must maintain qualifications to assume duties and responsibilities of a Maintenance Lead position
Assist in day-to-day supervision of maintenance crew and contractors assigned to maintenance
Perform training for all maintenance employees in all areas
Implement and manage hot work/line break and LOTO permits
Promote discipline within the department to job duties and responsibilities for the team.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to enhance equipment performance and reliability.
Implement, deploy, and manage Facility Response Plan
Facilitate Evacuation Plans
Administer, support environmental programs as needed.
Approve hourly employees’ overtime and change of schedule requests.
Facilitate Job Cycle Checks, Job Safety Analysis, SIF Checklists and all other safety program supporting tools.
Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or GED; advanced technical training, extensive experience or certifications strongly preferred.
Related Experience:
Experience in food / beverage packaging or industrial setting preferred.
Expert knowledge in and the ability to teach pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, power transmissions, lubrication, mechanical and electrical principles.
Equipment/Software Skills:
Extensive hands-on experience with PLC/automation systems
Proficient in using computer-based maintenance management systems (CMMS) for tracking maintenance activities, generating detailed reports, and analyzing maintenance data.
Forklift/Power Industrial Equipment certification preferred.
Additional Information
Physical: Sitting/Walking/Climbing as required in a manufacturing environment. Must be able to lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis. Prolonged standing and frequent bending, stooping, walking, and reaching on a daily basis. Requires a full range of physical motion in order to operate manual and electrically powered tools and electrical test equipment, to move throughout the facility, including climbing stairs in all buildings, and to work at heights. Work is performed indoors and out-of-doors year-round, occasionally in environments that are dusty, noisy, or which could have work hazards. Requires exposure to and use of chemicals, solvents, and cleaners common to mechanical work that may be hazardous and/or cause injury if specific instructions regarding their mixture, use, and disposal/storage are not properly followed. Must be able to wear a Respirator.
