JOB PURPOSE:

As a key member of the Howard Forward Team, the Project Manager will serve as a functional lead in implementing and assessing the university’s strategic plan. This position will report to the Director of Strategy and Communications in the Office of the Chief Strategy Officer.

SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY:

Responsible for overseeing one or more functions within the Office of the Chief Strategy Officer, including the project management and data and information functions. This role involves planning, organizing, and coordinating the activities of these functions but does not include direct supervision of individuals.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

Internal contacts include university executives, administrators, faculty, staff and students of the department and the University at large. External contacts include various outside stakeholders such as vendors, other universities, and external agencies.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Manage and support projects involving other accountable units across the university to implement initiative-level objectives of the university’s strategic plan, including collecting information, conducting data analysis, performing research, creating reports and presentations, providing status updates, and proactively engaging with internal and external contacts.
  • Manage and maintain project management tools to track strategic plan progress, including updating project schedules, monitoring deadlines, and communicating project status to all stakeholders.
  • Oversee the content of the university’s strategic plan website, ensuring internal and external contact is current and accurate
  • Design interactive graphics of structured and unstructured content and data for website publication and reports, enhancing engagement.
  • Create meaningful and impactful presentations, providing regular updates to university leadership and internal and external contacts on the progress of the university’s strategic plan.
  • Drive collaboration with the Office of University Communications, taking a proactive role in crafting impactful content for university communication broadcasts and publications.
  • Handle and respond to data requests from various audiences, ensuring timely and accurate information dissemination.

  • Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Visio and SharePoint, and other tools such as Tableau

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree and 3-5 years of related work experience.  Project management certification preferred. Familiarity with the practical application of project management principles and tools. Proven experience with developing dashboards, including metrics, filters, charts, graphs, and tables with tools such as Tableau and/or Power BI. Experience with manipulating large data sets using tools like Excel and SQL Server. Strong written and oral communication skills.
