Your Specific Responsibilities:
This is Fiscal Assistant II Lead Worker position assigned to the Bureau of Public Health Laboratories Billing Section. Primarily
responsible for all billing transactions for the Newborn Screening program and assist the Section manager and Administrative Assistant I to achieve department goals.
Responsible for Newborn Screening daily import claims into the Healthpac billing system, Ensure the Prep List is processed timely and accurately. Oversee the activities the daily claims distributions to prep list team to ensure the correct baby’s name, information is being verified and Track prep list team daily tasks.
Monitor all the inactive claims from the prep list for additional insurance information. Also, officially clearinghouse rejected claims and Medicaid denials. Prepare Newborn Screening daily report. Correspond with hospitals and third-party payers to resolve discrepancies with billing issues such as verifying the correct name, date of birth, insurance, etc.
Responsible for training new hires for Newborn Screening billing third party processes. Perform clerical duties for all units in this area. Include, but is not limited to, correspondence, incoming telephone calls, appointments and providing administrative duties and reports.
Assist supervisor and manager with section workloads as requested. Assists management with special projects, provides support to cover in vacancies and absences, and collaboration with other Finance & Accounting sections needs to achieve departmental goals and objectives. Also, keep current of laboratory billing practices and procedures including CPTs and other related issues
Perform other related duties as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
Knowledge of the methods of data collection.
Ability to prepare and maintain a variety of accounting records.
Ability to plan, organizes and coordinate work assignments.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to utilize problem solving techniques.
Qualifications:
Preferred: 2 years of experience.
