Plains has an immediate opening for an E&I Technician at the PGS Gardendale Stabilizer Facility located in Cotulla, Texas. This position will perform scheduled and non-scheduled electrical and instrument maintenance and repairs on plant and pipeline equipment. It will also maintain up to date maintenance records in compliance with DOT/PHMSA/PSM requirements. Position will require a working knowledge of electrical, instrumentation and SCADA equipment and will be subject to call outs for work associated with Plains field operations and/or emergency response.

Job Responsibilities

  • Inspect, calibrate, repair, install, and modify the process controls, control valves, safety devices, analyzers, PLC’s, field instrumentation (pressure, level, and flow), process monitoring equipment, meters, low and high voltage motors and breakers, VFD’s, control circuits, radio communications, SCADA, distributed control systems and similar other equipment and systems using various types of test equipment.
  • Responsible for maintaining 480 Vac plant equipment.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of PSM (Process Safety Management) and company policies/procedures as they relate to the operation/maintenance of the facility.
  • Responsibilities include Department of Transportation (DOT) covered functions, including operations, maintenance, or emergency response on a pipeline.
  • Responsible for completing and maintaining required documentation and records for all work performed.
  • Maintain test equipment calibration & associated records.
  • Work with outside vendors to troubleshoot various equipment.
  • Rack in/out breakers & switchgear as necessary.
  • Maintain facility documentation (P&ID, loop sheets, spec sheets, etc.) for approved changes.
  • Work and communicate safely and effectively with field operations, fellow employees, contractors and the general public.
  • Comply with all environmental, health and safety related best practices, policies, and procedures, including process safety management (PSM).
  • Subject to call outs, travel and overtime for work associated with Plains field operations and/or emergency response.
  • Assist with pipeline pigging.
  • Perform energy isolation lockout/tagout procedures (LOTO).
  • Any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Must reside within or be willing to relocate to within 60 miles of Cotulla.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical degree with 2 years related field work experience or 4+ years E&I experience in a plant environment.
  • Read and interpret manuals, policies, engineering standards, regulations, drawings, and schematics, including electrical, pneumatic, and P&ID’s to troubleshoot and solve production problems.
  • General plant and pipeline knowledge with medium voltage equipment working experience.
  • Be a self-starter with a positive attitude.
  • Take ownership in your work as well as in the facility as a whole.
  • Be a team player with a strong work ethic with the demonstrated ability to effectively work with minimum supervision.
  • Solid computer skills to include Microsoft Office Software.
  • Knowledgeable in use of Maximo or other CMMS programs.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, with the ability to respond to call outs.
  • Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines.
  • Ability to learn the Stabilizer process to function as a relief operator as required.
  • Ability to oversee contractors and manage projects from start to completion.
  • Ability to complete Haz-Mat training, safety programs, and meet minimum DOT qualifications and able to obtain any other Operator Qualifications as deemed necessary by the Supervisor.
