Production Engineer, Infrastructure Networks

The Infrastructure Network Engineering team is responsible for the design of the out of band (OOB) and disaster recovery networks that underpin the Meta production IP network. Our networks are used for commissioning network devices, providing an OOB management plane, and disaster recovery purposes.

You will be responsible for developing network designs and solutions in close collaboration with partner teams. This includes designing network topologies, selecting industry technologies and protocols, liaising with vendors on feature or product development, and choosing network products and platforms that align with our product needs. You will champion innovation by bringing new network products to life, from initial concept to a fully-functional network in our labs.

As an Production Engineer in the network organization at Meta, you will combine the skills of a software and network engineer, ensuring the smooth operation of our network and associated services, while paving the way for future growth. You will use data analysis to influence design decisions and leverage automation to achieve scale and velocity we need for Meta’s growing demands.Production Engineer, Infrastructure Networks Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, manage and maintain multi-vendor, multi-protocol critical infrastructure networks in every Meta network location, including our data centers and POPs
• Write and review code, develop documentation and capacity plans, and debug the hardest problems
• Develop audits and checks to establish network health or device health to ensure safe change management
• Maintain the technical interface with Meta's networking vendors, while driving roadmap and new feature development
• Define SLA, implement metric collections and reporting for the network products you develop
• Analyze data to diagnose and identify root causes to network issues
• Together with the rest of your team, you will share an on-call rotation and be an escalation contact for service incidents

Minimum Qualifications

• 4+ years of work experience in network engineering
• 2+ years of work experience coding in higher-level languages (e.g., Python, C++, Go, etc.)
• Experience developing and understanding network device configuration for at least one vendor (Juniper, Cisco, Arista, Nokia, etc.)
• Protocol experience in one or more of BGP, OSPF or ISIS - understanding of typical configurations and performance optimizations
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years experience in network design or architecture
• Experience with carrier-grade backbone routing and traffic engineering
• Expert knowledge of TCP/IP and IPv6
• Experience writing code to automate Network deployments, monitoring or remediation
• Experience in configuration and maintenance of network devices and NMS systems, or applications such as authentication servers (RADIUS/TACACS), logging infrastructure, or collection systems (SNMP/NETCONF/gNMI)
• Experience with XGS-PON
• Experience with IPSec for site-to-site or remote access VPN
